How it works

Three steps. About ten seconds.

As simple as AirDrop — for every device you own.

  1. 01

    Choose your files

Drop photos, videos, documents or whole folders of files. Nothing is uploaded — they stay on your device.

  2. 02

    Scan the QR code

Point the other device's camera at the code, or type the short room code. No app or account required.

  3. 03

    Receive, verified

Files stream directly between devices and are checked with SHA-256 before they're marked complete.

Features

Everything sharing should be.

Built around one promise: the file that arrives is exactly the file you sent.

Bit-for-bit original

HEIC, ProRAW, 4K HDR video, ZIPs — the exact bytes arrive with resolution, bitrate and EXIF intact.

SHA-256 verification

Every file is hashed on both ends while streaming. A mismatch is reported, never silently accepted.

Group rooms

Invite a whole group with one QR code. See who sent what, and download everything as one ZIP.

Fast, direct transfers

WebRTC data channels with chunking and backpressure keep transfers fast without exhausting memory.

You stay in control

Live speed, time remaining and per-file progress. Pause, resume or cancel at any moment.

Any file, many at once

Send dozens of files in one go. Large files are written straight to disk on supported browsers.

Why DropCircle?

Chat apps shrink your photos. Clouds keep copies.

DropCircle does neither. It connects your devices and gets out of the way.

Privacy & security

Your files are none of our business.

DropCircle is designed so that we never have your files — not even temporarily.

Encrypted end to end

Every connection uses WebRTC's mandatory DTLS encryption. Keys are negotiated between your devices.

Peer-to-peer first

Files travel directly between devices whenever the network allows it — usually on the same Wi-Fi.

Honest relay fallback

Some networks block direct connections. Then a TURN relay forwards the still-encrypted traffic. It cannot read your files, and the app shows when a relay is in use.

Temporary rooms

Rooms use random codes, expire automatically, and the signaling server is rate-limited and validates every request.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Does DropCircle compress my photos or videos?+

Never. DropCircle sends the original file byte-for-byte. Nothing is resized, converted, re-encoded or stripped of metadata, and each file is checked with a SHA-256 hash on arrival.

Do I need to create an account or install an app?+

No. Open DropCircle in any modern browser, create a room, and scan the QR code with the other device. You can optionally install it as an app from your browser for quicker access.

Are my files uploaded to a server?+

No. Our server only helps devices find each other. File data flows directly between devices over an encrypted connection. If a direct path is impossible, an encrypted TURN relay forwards traffic without storing it.

How large can files be?+

It depends on the receiving browser. Chrome, Edge and Firefox on desktop can write large files straight to disk, limited by free storage. Browsers without that ability keep files in memory, so DropCircle caps transfers (about 1 GB on phones, 4 GB on computers) and tells you before you start.

What happens if the connection drops?+

The transfer is clearly marked as interrupted — never as complete. Incomplete data is discarded, and the sender can retry with one tap once the devices reconnect.

Can I save received photos to my iPhone's Photos app?+

Yes. Tap “Save” on a received file to open the iOS share sheet and choose “Save Image” or “Save Video”. The original file is saved unchanged.

Ready when your files are.

Free to use. No sign-up. Original quality, every time.
